11 Years After Terrorist Attacks
In the United States, Patriot Day occurs on September 11 of each year, designated in memory of the September 11th terrorists attacks. On every anniversary, in New York City, the names of the victims who died there are read out against a background of somber music. The President of the United States attends a memorial service at the Pentagon,and asks Americans to observe Patriot Day with a moment of silence.
Across the country, thousands of Americans will honor the memory of the victims and heroes of 9/11 by engaging in services in their communities. The idea of making 9/11 a day of service and remembrance started with 9/11 family members eleven years ago.
